Helping Our Customers Rise Above


Since this devastating global pandemic began, we all have had to adapt and change many of our regular routines. One thing that has not changed, however, is my ongoing privilege of regularly speaking with you, our Teradata customers. In our conversations, I’ve heard how so many of you — particularly those in travel, hospitality, retail, and oil & gas — are facing excruciating challenges and choices. You’re working to balance the need to keep global supply chains running with the need to keep your people safe at home or having to shut down entirely while trying to determine the future of your business.

At Teradata, we are fortunate to have many customers on the frontlines tackling this virus, working day and night to get this historic pandemic behind us. If you are a governmental organization, healthcare provider, researcher, pharmaceutical company, or any other kind of enterprise that is deep in the fight, we thank you for all you’ve done and continue to do to ensure our long-term health and safety.

Our goal right now is to help all our customers rise above this crisis. To help ensure the resilience of our customers and the global community, we’ve undertaken a number of initiatives and collaborations, and we remain committed to helping you as you work to either survive through this crisis or navigate the frontlines of overcoming it. Our people, skills, and technology are already supporting many customers, and we stand at the ready to ensure that each of you has the capacity, uptime, and resources you require to help your customers.

From what we’ve seen play out during this pandemic around the world, an effective response to COVID-19 requires the full collaboration of global enterprises and local citizens combined with the effective use of big data and technology. To that end, we’re involved in the following endeavors:

  • For organizations working to stop the spread of COVID-19, we’re focusing on doing what we do best: bringing disparate data sets together and breaking down information siloes to deliver answers to the toughest questions, faster. 
  • Globally, our very smart data scientists are offering their time and knowledge in hackathons to support humanity.
  • In the U.S., we’re working directly with both public and private agencies and the White House to address the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re leveraging analytics to help predict where new outbreaks will likely occur, pinpoint populations most at risk, and estimate which resources will be needed in specific geographies. 
  • We’ve also joined the COVID-19 Healthcare Coalition, working alongside many of our own customers and tech industry peers to connect the dots between healthcare and government. 

While we’ve never seen anything like this crisis in our history, we’ll continue to do what we’ve always done: the right thing, for our customers and for our world. We’ll do that by remaining true to our mission, transforming how businesses work and people live through the power of data.
