Today I want to introduce Vantage Analyst. Vantage Analyst is easy-to-use interfaces to those underlying advanced analytic capabilities of Vantage that literally puts the power of those analytics into the hands of business analysts. Now hundreds if not thousands of business analysts, can pursue innovation, uncover new business value, all through an interface that simply lets them select the data, choose a predictive model, pathing algorithm, text analytic, any of those machine learning functions in Vantage, and simply click a “Run” button. The answers surface with no coding required. To showcase Vantage Analyst, let’s run through a scenario. I’ll play the role of a business analyst with a global manufacturer of heavy equipment. The business challenge here is that recently we’ve had a spike in on-site failures. That’s costly to us to repair on site, but it’s even more costly and disruptive for our customers. As a business analyst, I now want to quickly pull together the data and apply Vantage analytics so I can uncover the root cause of these failures so that we can take proactive measures to minimize those failures. So let’s get started. Here we’re going to start with the Vantage Analyst text capability. This is a great discovery tool early in the analytic process when I’m looking for clues to guide me on what my next analytic steps should be. So in this case, in our scenario with these equipment failures, the repair teams on site capture notes. They capture free-form text that we have available to us with Vantage. So text is traditionally a challenge, right, especially if you think about hundreds of thousands of text documents, millions and millions of words, right. It’s very challenging to pull out and find those insights, right. Of course, there are other text analytic tools available, but the value, the overriding value that I’ll talk about with all of these Vantage Analyst capabilities is that having all of those together allow me to be very agile in stitching together an analytic workflow. I can combine, right, traditional SQL slicing and dicing with insights from the texting tool. You’ll see us do pathing. Ultimately build predictive models, right, all against the same data that’s within Vantage, and I’m not moving that data in or out. So the first question we always get is, right, “What’s the value of these tools and can I compare it to competitors?” My answer is always, “These are embedded with the data, and the ability to bring it together, as you’ll see, truly makes me very agile and accelerates my time to insight and ultimately my time to drive those business outcomes.” So here, with—starting here with Vantage Analyst text, you’ll see all of the tools start with simply selecting the data. So here in my database, and I have a table called Equipment Logs, right, in that table there is a column called Description, and that’s where the free-form text is, right. Almost as easy as just pointing at that data, I’m ready to do analysis. I have a small step here of saying, “Which of these fields is the identifier for the record?” So in my case it’s this Equipment ID column, and now you see in the lower right is a green Run button. So it’s almost as simple as if you could select the data and click Run, I’m now taking advantages of those Vantage Analytic functions. Now, what you see here is a dialogue saying, “Where do you want me to output the results?” (Sign up to watch video and read full transcript)
